Camera

I'm a Canon girl.  I've been using them since my AE-1 Program.  For you kids, that's a 35mm film camera that was released in 1981.  I chose the 6D because it as a nice balance of features per dollar in a full-frame body.   I chose the body + 24-105mm f/4 lens package.  While this lens doesn't do everything, it is a good all-around choice.

Lenses

While I love Canon glass, it is a bit pricey.  A bit of shopping led me to some far less expensive alternatives from other manufacturers.

Filters

I'm a believer in keeping a good quality UV filter on my lenses if at all possible.  Some folks disagree but I'd rather scratch a filter than a lens.

Flash

I found the 600 for a great price in the Canon Refurbished store.
